Armaan Thandhi
Armaan Thandhi (he/him) is a fourth-year student at Simon Fraser University pursuing a joint major in Business Administration and Resource and Environmental Management and a Minor in Economics. He first became involved with CityHive through the Civic Innovators Cohort in 2023.
Some of Armaan's interests include climate policy, the intersection of environmental and Indigenous justice, the impacts of climate change on mental health, and creating a sustainable and just economy. In recent years, he has worked with B.C.’s Ministry of Forests on Indigenous bioeconomy policy and helped co-design a peer support program geared towards youth with climate anxiety with Stanford Psychiatry’s CIRCLE initiative. As Co-Chief of Sustainability of the Vancouver Kindness Movement, Armaan has led partnerships with PNW Climate Week and the City of Surrey to promote climate action and youth leadership.
Armaan has volunteered extensively with organizations in the climate and social impact ecosystem, promoting causes such as clean economy careers with re•generation, public transit with Movement YVR, and clean energy systems with Student Energy SFU. He also writes about environmental topics with The Starfish Canada's Youth Journal.
In his free time, you can find Armaan watching or playing sports, writing poetry and short stories, learning new languages, and practicing the piano!
