Events & Outreach Specialist

Farahnaz Nazari (she/her) resides on the traditional and stolen territories of the Katzie, Kwantlen and Semiahmoo First Nations. She is a student of International Relations and is passionate about creating equitable spaces. Farahnaz has helped organize a wide range of community engagement events surrounding advocacy and creating space. On her university campus she has organized Dive Into Sudan, raising awareness and highlighting Sudanese culture, and hosted community-building events for women studying economics and policy. Farahnaz is also very interested in women’s empowerment. With two of her peers, she created a mentorship program called Qadirah, aimed at closing the gap between Muslim women youth and working professionals.These experiences helped her believe in the power of grass-roots initiatives and gave her the confidence to be the change she wants to see in the world.

Farahnaz, has developed experience in research and policy-development through her co-op positions in several federal and provincial government departments, including Global Affairs Canada, the BC Public Service and ISED. Overall, Farahnaz is deeply committed to uplifting underrepresented voices and sustainable development. Outside of work, you may find Farahnaz trying new cafes, walking in nature, or doing arts and crafts.
